Happy International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day started back in 1911.  In 100 years since, we celebrate the tremendous progress that has been by women; however, we must remind ourselves that women today are still victims of inequality, discrimination, violence, and sexual, physical and emotional abuse.

We Celebrate!

Last year, President Obama signed the Violence Against Women Act and the Trafficking Victims Protection Act (VAWA/TVPRA).

We Learn…
Almost 70% of people living in poverty worldwide are women.   Learn.  Take action.  Have an impact.

UN Women is the United Nations entity for gender equality and empowerment of women.   Have a listen (and lend support) to this inspiring song:  One Women – 25 singers from 20 different countries come together to spread a message of unity and solidarity.

Your trek directly supports EWN and their children’s school.  This November, lace up your boots and join Meaningful Trip founder, Joe Staiano on a trek!

In Orissa, India:  Explore a fascinating region of India filled with temples, UNESCO sites, world-class bird-watching and indigenous cultures.  You support New Hope, an NGO that helps provide medical, education, economic and agricultural support and opportunities to some of India’s most marginalized communities.  Spend 2 entire days with New Hope visiting their eye cataract surgery center, the children’s school, elder-care and HIV-care facilities and more.

In Colombia:  OK travelers… word is out!  Colombia is thee place to be!  Our Coffee to Coast trip combines lush coffee haciendas, stunning national parks, colonial towns with the beaches, secluded islands and historic Cartagena.  Here, your proceeds help support Fundacion Por La Madre, a non-profit working with indigenous communities in the Sierra Nevada to create  sustainable educational programs, promote tolerance, promote family-youth integration and encourage social reconstruction.
